Many people dream of talking to an astronaut. And if you had the chance, what would you ask them? The ARISS Educational Outreach Program allows schools and Youth organisations to send a request for a pre-scheduled amateur radio contact with the ISS. Young people will have the opportunity to ask an astronaut a question and receive the answer live from space. All this will be possible thanks to amateur radio equipment and HAM operators. Preparations, including space education, will take about six months. During this time, educational projects shoule be carried out. ESA education programmes may also be used as part of the radio contact preparations. The space agency’s education programmes and the ARISS school contact are thus complementary.
