LIVE: NASA TV – Coverage of the Release of the Northrop Grumman “SS Katherine Johnson” Cygnus Cargo Craft from the International Space Station

NORTHROP GRUMMAN CARGO SHIP DEPARTS THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION After a four-month delivery mission to the International Space Station, Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus cargo vehicle departed the orbital outpost June 29, bound for a deorbit and destructive entry into the Earth’s atmosphere July 1 over the Pacific Ocean. Dubbed the “SS Katherine Johnson”, the unpiloted Cygnus vehicle was released from the grasp of the Canadarm2 robotic arm by ground controllers after being unberthed from the station’s Unity module. Cygnus delivered some three tons of supplies and science experiments to the station following its launch in February atop a Northrop Grumman Antares launch vehicle.
