The uncrewed ISS Progress 77 cargo ship blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Feb. 14 (Feb. 15 Kazakhstan time) atop a Russian Soyuz 2.1a booster, headed for an automated docking to the Pirs Docking Compartment at the International Space Station Feb. 17. This Progress is carrying just over one ton of supplies for the crew on the orbital outpost. This spacecraft will be used to detach and deorbit the Pirs docking module later this year in advance of the arrival of the new “Nauka” Multipurpose Laboratory Module which will be launched from Baikonur on a Proton rocket to serve as a docking port and research facility.
