NASA Armstrong Special Event – January 7, 2020

ISSFanClub was granted access to tour the NASA Armstrong Palmdale, California facility to tour and learn about the many Earth Science Aircraft used in data gathering to monitor many changes in different layers in the upper atmosphere.

ER-2 High Elevation Aircraft, capable of altitudes of 50,000 feet, requiring a secondary High pressure suit be worn by the pilot.

Solar powered “Wave Glider” autonomous watercraft with many different types of data collecting sensors that can run hundreds of miles and collect data about water patterns, salinity, weather patterns etc.
